Heritage East Vancouver Custom Home

This East Vancouver custom built home was completed over a year ago, but we've updated this blog post with more pictures and descriptions of this beautiful heritage-style home. Inspired by the 90 year old home it replaced and the surrounding East Vancouver Heritage neighbourhood, the exterior of this new home is a great new addition to a neighbourhood with so much tradition.

Here is a look at where we came from to where we are now for these new home owners and this 33' wide lot in the heart of East Vancouver.

Our initial consultation with these home owners took place in the kitchen of their old 90 plus year old home. After many many months of design and planning, demolition took place and the construction of this beautiful home began. At 2,940 sq.ft., this new custom home features 3 bedrooms upstairs, a great room concept on the main floor with a guest bedroom and full bathroom along with a 2 bedroom rental suite in the basement. A big upgrade in space, design and efficiency!

Drawing on their East Vancouver neighborhood, our home owners chose heritage-style details when designing the exterior of their custom home. These include rafter tails, Hardie shakes, knee braces, multi-paned windows and even the beautiful robin's egg blue paint.

Inside, a beautiful custom barn-style door separates the den from the entry and a built in window seat makes this the perfect place to curl up with a book.

The entry opens to a large kitchen/dining/living space (also called a great room). It features white oak hardwood and built in bench seating with custom built cubby holes for storage. 

Our home owners really wanted to embrace the history of this East Vancouver neighborhood, so they also incorporated heritage details in the kitchen, including a farmhouse style sink, under counter corbels (like knee braces for under your countertop!) and cup pulls for the drawers. 

We also love what they chose in the main floor bathroom - black and white octagon tile flooring and subway tile in the shower - classic and chic!
